#DailyDevotion The LORD Will Rise Up And Save You

Psalm 12 5“Because the poor are robbed and the needy groan, I will now rise,” says the LORD. “I will provide safety to the one who longs for it.”

The LORD our God is patient and lets things develop as He will to demonstrate His glory and for the best of His people. As David and the people here who pray this psalm cry out to Him, the LORD hears and answers. We see this in Exodus, at the right time, after 400 years of being in Egypt and now the people of Israel cry out to God because they were now being oppressed, He hears their cries and sends Moses to deliver them. The LORD here says, “ Because the poor are robbed and the needy groan, I will now rise.” We do not know here how the LORD heard and answered their prayers. He says He will provide safety to the one who longs for it.

Did not the LORD our Father rise up and deliver His Son Jesus Christ from the grave and seat him at His right hand? You might note, it was after Jesus had suffered and died on the cross for you. Stephen also trusted in the LORD and committed his spirit to Him as he was stoned to death trusting Jesus’ words he would be raised from the dead and reign with Christ forever on the Last Day.

I’m not saying we will have to wait for the Last Day and the resurrection to be delivered from every trial and enemy who may oppress us. I don’t think David did. There are a number of times in the life of Jesus his Father delivered him from the hands of his enemies. You do not know the number of times the LORD has risen up and sent forth His holy angels to guard and deliver you. You don’t know all the times He has thwarted the plans of those who oppose you because you belong to Him and have His name written on your forehead and on your heart. But I mention Jesus and Stephen so you may realize He may have a plan in your suffering from your enemies to promote the Good News of Jesus and to strengthen and purify your faith.

6 The words of the LORD are pure, like silver refined in a furnace purified seven times. 7O LORD, You watch over us, You keep us safe forever from this world, 8where the wicked prowl around praising what is vile among people.

Here we see the promised given to us through Paul, “All God’s promises are Yes in Jesus Christ.” So here we have a promise through the prophet David, “O LORD, You watch over us, You keep us safe forever from this world…” Jesus tells us in Matthew 18, 10“Be careful not to despise one of these little ones. I tell you their angels in heaven always see the face of My Father in heaven.” At the end of Matthew he says, “I am with you always until the end of the age.”

Therefore we should not fear what our enemies may try to do to us. We need not fear the devil and all his minions who oppose us in every way. We don’t have to fear the wicked in the world and their ways which affect us negatively. We know our Father in heaven is watching over us and Jesus is with us always. If this is the case and we know God works everything for our good, we can endure it with His promise.

Heavenly Father, rise up and deliver us from all our foes and the wicked, strengthen our faith that we may endure until we see your deliverance. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
