#DailyDevotion The LORD Will Give You Peace

Psalm 37 37Keep an eye on the blameless man, and watch the honest man; that man will finally have peace.

The blameless man and the honest man are one and the same being parallels to each other here. Who is blameless but the person who has put their trust in the LORD and the LORD credits him with righteousness. In Eph. 1:5 Paul writes, “ In Him He chose us to be holy and blameless before Him.” In Col. 1:22 it is written, “by dying in His human body He has made you friends in order to have you stand before Him without sin or fault or blame…” Jude writes in verse 22, “To Him who is able to keep you from falling and have you stand without a fault and with great joy before His glory…” If we are blameless and honest it is the LORD Jesus Christ’s and the Holy Spirit’s doing. It’s not as if we never sin. When we do sin, we confess our sin and trust in the LORD Jesus Christ’s work of salvation, His blood to cover our sin. It is only in His blood that we are blameless. Yet we can know who these are by the confession of their mouth. The mouth confesses what the heart believes. (Rom. 10)

So we are called to keep an eye on such people. Their lives may be filled with many afflictions and trials. We may think they are cursed by God and God opposes them. We might wonder what great sin they have committed that these horrible things always happen to them. If you don’t keep an eye on them, you may not see their end. But if you see their end, you will see they finally have peace. They do not fear death or dying. They know in whom they have put their trust. They know His promises. They know He keeps His promises and He will not fail them. Yes, they shall have their peace, all who put their trust and hope in the LORD Jesus Christ.

38The wicked will be completely destroyed and their future cut off.

It may be tougher to keep an eye on the wicked. We don’t hang around them much. We do not see their end. They will be completely destroyed. They do not have peaceful ends. Terror grips them at the last. Their ultimate end shall be the Lake of Fire where Satan and all his angels are being tortured. Their future, their children that is, are cut off. This is particularly true if they do not repent of their sins and continue in the ways of their fathers. We see this particularly of the nations that Israel was to destroy when they entered the Promised Land.

39But the LORD saves the righteous and keeps them safe when trouble comes. 40The LORD helps them and rescues them; He rescues them from the wicked and saves them because they came to Him for shelter.

This is our hope. This is a promise from the LORD when trouble comes. Put your faith in the LORD Jesus Christ and He will keep you safe in that time. He will help and rescue you. He will rescue you from the wicked and save you when you come to Him for shelter. Of course, you have to actually come to Him for shelter and put your trust in Him. Just read the life of David and you will see, he was afflicted many times by Saul, by the Philistines, and even by His own son. The LORD delivered him because he trusted in Him. You will not be without troubles. The LORD will deliver you from them all as you put your trust in Him.

Heavenly Father, give us your Holy Spirit that we may continually put our trust in Your Son, Our LORD Jesus Christ, that we may be blameless and we may receive His divine help in every trial, trouble and tribulation. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
