#DailyDevotion Jesus’ Throne Is Forever And Ever

Psalm 45 5May people fall beneath You, with Your sharp arrows in the hearts of the King’s enemies. 6Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; You rule as a King with a righteous scepter. 7You love righteousness and hate wickedness; that is why God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of joy above Your companions.

In Psalm 110 it is written, “Sit at My right until I make Your enemies Your footstool.” 2From Zion the LORD will send out the scepter of Your power: “Rule in the middle of Your enemies. Verse 5 and following is a similar thought. Jesus is the one whom people will fall beneath. It is the arrows of God which pierce the heart of His enemies. It brings to mind Rev. 19, “15A sharp sword comes out of His mouth to strike down the nations, and He will rule them with an iron rod and will tread the winepress of the fierce anger of Almighty God. 160n His garment and on His thigh He has a name written:KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS!”

In verse 6 we are reminded, the LORD, the God of Israel is King and He rules with an iron scepter. In Jesus, the LORD and the seed of David are one. He loves righteousness and hates wickedness. Jesus rules with a rod of iron. Jesus rules with a righteous scepter. He has been anointed by the Father at His baptism with the oil of joy, i.e. the Holy Spirit above all His companions. Jesus is LORD and God. So our Jesus is both God and Man. The Father has made Jesus King and He is also the Groom and Husband to the Bride, His Church.

8All Your garments are fragrant with myrrh, scented wood, and cassia. From ivory palaces the music of stringed instruments delights You.

Jesus, “13He wears a garment dipped in blood and is called the Word of God.”(Rev. 19) It isn’t clear whether it is His blood or the blood of His enemies here in Revelation, but for now, let’s go with His blood. His blood for us who believe in Him it is fragrant to us like myrrh, scented wood and cassia. It smells like salvation to us because that is what it is. A perfect sacrifice offered to God our Father and poured out upon the Mercy Seat in heaven above.

The ivory palaces are the places where the Church meets and we sing His praise all the day long. We praise Jesus for all He has done for us by His innocent suffering and death, by His precious burial and resurrection. We praise Him for all His works among us, showing us who He is and what He will accomplish as He ushers in His Kingdom on the Last Day. Such praises as we bring to Him delights Him to no end. It demonstrates our faith and trust in Him for all He has done for us. May we continually sing Jesus’ praise now and forever more.

Gracious God and Father, we do give You thanks and praise to send us Your King, Jesus Christ, in our flesh and blood, to rule over us in righteousness, mercy and kindness. Give us Your Holy Spirit that we may ever recognize and confess His rule over our hearts and minds and may we sing His praises forever. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
