#DailyDevotion Jesus Is The Reason For A New Song Of Salvation

Psalm 96 Sing to the LORD a new song! Sing to the LORD, all the world! 2Sing to the Lord! Bless His name! From day to day tell the news of how He saves. 3Among the nations tell about His glory, about the wonderful things He does among all the people.

Surely this is fulfilled in Jesus Christ. A new song requires a new reality. While Israel could sing of their salvation by the LORD from the Egyptians, the new song calls out to all the world to join in. This would require the salvation of the world. So Jesus in John three tells us, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but inherit eternal life.” So the Church is commissioned to sing this new song. It is to tell all people the news of how He saves. The Church is called to be among the nations and tell about Jesus’ glory and all the wonderful things He does among all people. Jesus, by His innocent suffering and death, by His resurrection from the dead, has made atonement for the sins of all people everywhere and through faith in Him they are justified.

4The LORD is great and should be praised very highly, and should be held in awe above all gods. 5All the other gods of the nations are worthless idols, but the LORD made the heavens.

The LORD Jesus Christ is great and should be praised highly by all. He has defeated sin, death and the power of the devil. He has won for us an eternal inheritance. He has done this by His death. This is why He should be held in awe above all gods of the nations. The pagans try to pretend any story of their gods dying and coming back to life is the same as Jesus. The fact is most of them don’t actually have any such stories. They are made up. If there are any that have, they certainly didn’t do it for you. In their stories it was purely for themselves. But Jesus died for you and rose for you. He who died and rose again is the Creator of all the heavens, the earth and everything in it. He actually loves you and it is recorded for us in the Gospels and the writings of the apostles.

6Splendor and majesty are before Him; power and beauty are in His holy place. 7Give the LORD, O families of the nations, give the LORD glory and power; 8give the LORD the glory due His name. Bring an offering and come to His courts; ‘worship the LORD in holy garments. Tremble before Him, all the world! 10Tell among the nations: “The LORD is King!” He made the earth stand firm so that it can’t be moved. He will judge the peoples fairly.

We call out to the people of all the nations to put their faith in the LORD Jesus Christ. O nations give Jesus the credit that is due Him. Quit rebelling against Him O nations and give Him the honor and praise due His name. Everyone who puts their trust in Him bring your offerings and come into His courts clothed with His righteousness. Offerings are expressions of your thankfulness for all He has done for you.

Jesus is King. He rode into Jerusalem on the donkey as prophesied. He was charged as King on the cross. He ascended bodily to the right hand of God where He rules with an iron rod. He is coming to judge the living and dead and will judge all people fairly.

11Let the heavens rejoice and the earth be glad; let the sea roar like thunder and everything in it, 12the fields be delighted and everything in them. Then all the trees in the forest will sing joyfully 13before the LORD because He is coming. When He comes to judge the earth, He’ll judge the world fairly and the people faithfully.

All people and all creation is called to praise the LORD Jesus Christ. He is the judge of all.

Heavenly Father, grant that Your Church proclaims the name of Jesus Christ to the nations, so they receive His benefits and not His judgment. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
