#DailyDevotion God Made All This For Me?

Gen. 1:1-2:3 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2The earth was desolate and uninhabitable, and it was dark on the deep sea, but God’s Spirit hovered over the waters.

3Then God said, “Let there be light!”a And there was light. 4God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness, 5and God called the light day and the darkness night. Evening came and then morning – the first day.

6Then God said, “Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate them.” 7God made the expanse and separated the water below the expanse from the water above it. And so it was. 8God called the expanse the sky. Evening came and then morning — the second day.

9God said, “Let the waters under the sky come together in one area, and let the dry ground appear.” And so it was. 10God called the dry ground land, and the water that had gathered sea. And God saw it was good. 11God said, “Let the earth produce grass, plants bearing seeds, and fruit trees above the ground that bear their own kind of fruit with their seeds in it.” And so it was. 12The earth produced grass, plants bearing their own kind of seeds, and trees that bear their own kind of fruit with their seeds in it. 13And God saw it was good. Evening came and then morning — the third day.

14Then God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, to mark appointed signs, times, days, and years, 15 and to serve as lights in the expanse of the sky to shine on the earth.” And so it was. 16God made two large lights, the larger one to control the day and the smaller one to control the night, and the stars. 17And God put them in the expanse of the sky to shine on the earth 18and to control day and night and separate the light from the darkness. And God saw it was good. 19Evening came and then morning —- the fourth day.

20God said, “Let there be swarms of living things swimming in the water and birds flying around in the air over the earth.” 21And so God created the big sea monsters and every kind of living creature moving around and living in swarms in the water and every kind of winged bird. And God saw they were good. 22God blessed them and said, “Produce young and become many and fill the water in the sea, and let there be many birds on the earth.” 23Evening came and then morning — the fifth day.

24God said, “Let the earth produce different kinds of living creatures: cattle, creeping things, and wild animals.” And so it was. 25And God made the different kinds of wild animals, the different kinds of cattle, and all kinds of things that creep on the earth. And God saw they were good.

Well keeping a devotion to one page and having that much text doesn’t leave much room for a devotion. As we meditate on these word of creation, let us think of the forethought, the eternal power of our God, and the love and care he put into it, making it a home and place for us to live in. In these five days, he could have done it in an instant, God, through our LORD Jesus Christ, creates a creation that support our life and give us something to make us marvel, to the great expanse to the sub-atomic level and beyond both of those. We say with David in Psalm 8, “3When I look at your heavens that your fingers made, the moon and the stars that You set up, what is man that You should think of him, or the son of man that You should come and visit him?” Yet, despite those who hate God claims, the LORD does and in fact has made all of creation for him and places it under his dominion.

Heavenly Father, how vast and great is your creation you have made for us. Give us hearts that believe this and give your thank for it and for taking notice of us and giving it to us through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
