#DailyDevotion Don’t Fear Attempts Of One World Governments If You’re A Christian

Gen. 11:1-9 The whole world spoke one language with the same words. 2As people traveled in the east, they found a plain in the country of Babylonia and lived there. 3“Come,” they said to one another, “let us make bricks, and let us burn them hard.” They used bricks for stones and asphalt for mortar. 4Then they said, “Come, let us build a city for ourselves and a tower with its top in the sky, and let’s make ourselves famous to keep from getting scattered all over the earth.”

Well the population had picked up a bit since the flood. Jerusalem is the center of the world, so east here would be east of that. They would have come down south from Ararat. The plains of Mesopotamia is where the people found fertile ground to start planting crops and starting a new life. One of the things that marked the people was they all spoke one language. Now we must remember these words from chapter 8, “man’s thoughts are evil from his youth,” and chapter 6, “The LORD saw that the people on earth were very wicked and in their hearts were always thinking only evil.”

Their plans to build a city with a tower that reached to the heavens is not as innocent as it may seem. They say they are doing it to keep from getting scattered all over the earth and to make themselves famous. Now pride is certainly a sin. It seems they want to make a tower that tall to escape another flood. They hope to thwart any plans of God to wipe them out again. These people didn’t trust the LORD’s promise to never flood the earth again.

It seems to me mankind is always trying to go back to those days. It is the great sin of man to try to reunite everyone into one kingdom under one king. We have an implication that Nimrod was the first to do that, establishing the great cites of Mesopotamia. Then we continually have the kingdoms of the earth battling it out to bring all people under subjection under one rule. The Babylonians, Assyrians, Egyptians, Persians, Greek, Romans, the French, Spanish, Germans, and the Americans all seem to have a world domination in mind, always with the thought it is for the betterment of mankind. I don’t mean to skip over the attempts in Asia, Africa or the Americas and their rulers who try to subdue everyone they come in contact with under one rule. It is just my ignorance of their histories. We could bring up the various and sundry world organizations that attempt to do the same such as the Club of Rome, the United Nations, the European Union, NATO, the Council on Foreign Relations and whatever conspiracy theories are lately—they aren’t wrong. The one good thing about them all is multiple people always want to be the one in charge. That is why they will always fail.

The Good News is, God does have a plan to unite us all in his kingdom under his Son Jesus Christ. The kings of this world have nothing to say about it and cannot stop him, though they may try. When God makes manifest his kingdom under Jesus Christ of Nazareth, he will completely purify our hearts, minds, bodies and souls so our every inclination would be to glorify his name. All who put their faith in Jesus now will realize this on the day of his revelation. This is Good News for you, if you are in Christ. So don’t fear the world.

Heavenly Father, grant us faith in Jesus so we may joyfully submit ourselves to him and his will and dwell forever as one people with one heart, mind and Spirit in peace and holiness forever. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
